Jockey Hodsdon battles back to win at Block House Steeplechase

Danielle Hodsdon had a great finish
to a tough day at Saturday&squo;s 63rd
running of the Block House Steeplechase
at FENCE.
After coming in a disappointing
sixth place on Mr. Pike in the day&squo;s
first race, the Foster Cup, Hodsdon
and her mount The Manner Born froze
the crowd when they tumbled over
the tower jump in the next event, the
Cannon Harmon Memorial.
Both horse and rider were uninjured,
and The Manner Born continued
to chase the field around the
track while Hodsdon searched for
her whip.
Hodsdon and Bow Strada also took
sixth in the day&squo;s third race, sponsored
by The Tryon Riding & Hunt Club.
But when it mattered most, Hodsdon,
who grew up eventing in New
Hampshire, guided Mixed Up into
the winner&squo;s circle for biggest payout
of the competition, the Carolina First
Block House Race.
