The Town of Tryon will have a new manager soon as town council made its selection Tuesday.

In a closed session Tuesday, Tryon Town Council decided to hire Dr. Jack Miller, of Crossville, Tenn. as the town&squo;s new manager.

The town has been interviewing candidates and narrowed its selection down to two candidates last week.

Miller has been offered the position and accepted the job yesterday, according to Tryon Mayor Alan Peoples. The town received 16 applications for the town manager position.

Tryon has been searching for a manager since the resignation of former manager Jim Fatland last December. The town hired Bob Shepherd as interim manager following Fatland&squo;s resignation.
