Polk County Board of Commissioner Chair Pack dies

Polk County Board of Commissioner Chairman Tom Pack died Monday, March 7 after suffering injuries from a fall on Feb. 26.
Pack held the chairman position for the past two years and has served as county commissioner on and off since 2004. He was 51.
Pack was first elected in 2004 as the high vote getter and served as chairman of the board during his first term. He served until 2008, then lost the 2008 election but was re-elected again in 2010 winning a two-year term, then won a four-year term in 2012.
He was up for re-election this year, but chose not to run.
Pack was a native of Polk County and was president of manufacturing of White Oak Carpets.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; sons Eric and Timothy; sister Linda Burkett; brother Michael Pack and father Frank Pack.
Arrangements for Pack will be released at a later date.
